INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY A CATALYST FOR CHANGE:

Information Technology Includes all matters concerned with the furtherance of computer science and technology and with the design, development, installation, and implementation of information systems and applications; in this sense I mean an effective Database management system in place. A collection of programs that enables you to store, modify, and extract information from a database.
LASU Before
The situation that obtains before in LASU was that which warranted corruption, inefficiency and in general lack of progress in the institution, mostly in the area of record keeping; where admission records are kept in the old file and cabinet structures, results are manually written out i.e. no computer process involved and so on. This led to late release of results, and most time misplacement of both students and staff records.
LASU Today
One school of change in management argues that old practices must be "obliterated" and new processes designed from scratch to fully leverage new technologies and business realities. The Wind of change had blown and LASU now have an ICT center whose responsibility is to process all information electronically including records and examination result, this has led to prompt release of result and student profile. The issue of Database management is been taken care of and school registration is been done online and as a matter of fact the institution now has a website (www.lasunigeria.org) where you can reach the Vice Chancellor and other key officers of the institution.
LASU Tomorrow
Where is LASU going and the challenges ahead for her to attain an effective DBMS, what the future holds for tertiary institution s in Nigeria with particular reference to LASU is an Automated Database system which will all for record keeping and at the same time accessibility, personal records apart from student/staff BIO-DATA, but services such as online transcript, e-learning, online library and easy access to information which will have the necessary backbone of a wide bandwidth that will enable quick download. And above all the data base system should have features such as Query ability, Backup and replication, Rule enforcement, Security, Computation, Change and access logging, and Automated optimization. On the platform of MS Access, ORACLE, MS SQL server and MySQL
Conclusion
I hope to see more changes driven by IT for instance When a DBMS is used, information systems can be changed much more easily as the universities information requirements change. New categories of data can be added to the database without disruption to the existing system. The use of the DBMS is at the heart of a information strategy. Without a standard, an Institution/organization will waste time and money, will have trouble supporting your SLAs, and will have great difficulty attempting to integrate its critical subject areas. The use of the DBMS should be objective, should support the overall IT strategy as well as the mission of an organization, and should not be biased by the personal relationships of executive management.

I was born in Ajegunle, Lagos state on a Tuesday, twelfth day in June 1984, I grew up in Bariga, Lagos state Nigeria. I was born into a Catholic family with roots from Isoko, Delta states, I still live in Lagos, and I Attended Alubarika Primary school, then Tifedayo international school for my secondary education, before proceeding to Lagos state University, to study Geography and Regional Planning. I live with my father, Daniel; my brother, Kingsley; and my sisters, Emily, Bridget, and Justina.
Who I am in life.
My name is Stanley Owomero. I started school when I was four-years-old. I went to primary school at Bariga where I won an award for best student. Then I attended secondary school at Agbado Ijaye that was when I leaved with my Uncle, I also bag the award of Bachelor of Science from Lagos State University, Ojo Campus in the year 2007. Before my Bachelor degree I already possess a certificate in Computer Application from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba. After my B.sc, I proceeded on a two weeks training course on Computer Engineering and Networking Administrator conducted by Einstein Technology Link, finally i also have to my credit three brainbench certification and several Expertrating online certifications and this include areas like Networking, Windows XP administration, Office skill test,MS office expert,Computer technician test, African, European, and Asian city Test are just a few.
What life means to me.
Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like everything I do, I have my "days of." That means I do have some sad days or depressed days. I have a few friends here that sort of look out for me and when I am having a bad day. I make my school days go by thinking of either the next hour or what I will do when I get home or on the weekend. I like net-surfing, reading e-books and listening to music. I am easy going, I don’t like to leave a problem unsolved, I think about tomorrow al the time and moreover I knowing new things.
What's my outlook on the future?
The year 2015 will make eight years since I graduated from University. I think I will have concluded my Doctorate degree and would have been a big-time Database Administrator and a Software developer preferably in Geographic information systems. I will be quite comfortable with my living situation, meaning that I will be married and above all I would have help Design and effective and efficient database management systems for educational institutions and for the country at large.

Career Goal

To become a Database Administrator in Environmental Resource Management and Planning.
· To design and manage a database system for Tertiary and Environmental institutions.

Knowledge of physical sciences and mathematics.

Current Skills and Interests:

Current Pursuit
Currently, I have just concluded an online training in computer engineering from www.cbtdirect.com, an online free computer training institution concerned with all aspects of Information technology and project management Training . After visiting several training centers in Nigeria, I found out that most of them are too expensive considering my background, I consider Data base management not only related to my Geography and Planning background, but also a way to realize my analytic vision. Most institutions in Nigeria today do not have effective database management system. After completing the Oracle 10g training and certification program , I will help improve this area of data base management mostly in tertiary institutions and other educational institute.
· After finishing my training in Oracle 10g Database Administration, I Plan to obtain an M.Sc in Geographic Information Systems. I intend to incorporating geographic information systems features into oracle database systems. I hope to focus my work on both educational and governmental institutions, which will contribute a lot to demography and social statistics in promoting economic planning in Nigeria.
Study Plan
In order to reach my goal, after earning my master's degree, I plan on working in the information communication technology department in any tertiary Institution or government unit. Then I hope to pursue a doctoral degree. Since information technology in Nigeria is still in its early stages, soon after receiving my doctorate I plan to lead my own work team at a research center focusing on designing and integrating the database aspect in geographic information systems and Technology
